Holly

Date of birth:
10/25/2001

Holly is 7 years old.

She had an operation to be spayed just over a week ago on a friday as she was lactating 5 or 6 times a year for no apparent reason and we were advised it could be a hormone imbalance and to have her neutered.

After the operation, she was fine for 2 days, then started to be sick on the monday. She was constantly vomiting all day, so we took her to the vet. She had an antibiotic injection, an anti-sickness injection and some antibacterial tablets. Over the next few days, she picked up a little bit but was hardly eating. On the saturday, she seemed really perky, still not eating hardly anything at all, but very jolly. Then sunday night, started vomiting again.

I took her back to the vets yesterday (Monday) who thought she may just be suffering from excess acid and has prescribed an antacid liquid.

I got home lastnight from the vets and she was quite lethargic and shivering. I gave her some of the liquid and she seemed better this morning. I let her out to go to the toilet and she had a little bit of diarrhea. She then started to lean on the icy fence and wouldn't come back in the house. I finally coaxed her in and got her to bed and she was shaking again. I have tried a bit more of the antacid in hope that it will soothe her stomach. I am now really concerned.

Can anyone help? Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
