small black worms

I have noticed small, black worms on my cats bedding.  Very tiny things.  What are they and what should I do?

Those tiny black worms are flea larvae.  Not to be confused with flea *dirt* (meaning poop) which looks similar but does not wiggle around.  Your cat has fleas.

THEY ARE UNIDENTIFIED  ALIENS! ... as far as i know:p i seen bigger! THEY GROW OUT OF YOUR HAIR..THEY COME ALIVE SUDDENLY!

Hello,

If you have found out what these are I would love to know as I have spotted them the last couple of days where my cat has been laying. I showed them to a gal at the vets office and she had no clue.

Hi Brenda, I spent some time trying to research this tiny black worm and no one really seems to know exactly what they are.  I think the only way to know for sure is to have an entomologist look at the worms and give them a label.  There may be a web site you could email a picture to and ask what they are.

If you do find anything out, please let us know.

Lucy,  I am not sure exactly what you are describing but what you are seeing could be fleas, flea dirt (poop) or possibly dried up tapeworm segments, but they are usually brown. The best bet would be to gather a few up in a baggie and drop by the vet and see if they can identify them.  They may be able to give you some medicine based on what they see.
