Nursing mother dog is losing her hair
Written by ononot40
my dog had puppies 5 weeks ago , she was shedding so bad,we had her shaved.
after being shaved we noticed white spots all over her, they are bare spots, the groomer said maybe the puppies are taking too much out of her and she may need vitamins.
does this sound right to anyone? if so what can i give her? i feed her pedigree dog food.

Ononot40, it is hard to say for sure what is going on with your dogs skin. Dogs can experience hair loss with a hormone inbalance. Having puppies does take a toll on a mother dog and it is usually recommended that they eat a good quality puppy food while they are nursing.
There are other medical conditions that can contribute to hair loss such as a bacterial skin infection, a skin mite or a parasite. A quick visit with the vet would most likely tell you what is causing your dogs hair loss.
I have added a couple of links (in blue) to some articles you may find helpful. Good luck and let us know your dog is doing.
