Worried Mama, the first thing to look for with an aging pet that has a new behavior problem is an underlying medical issue. So as soon as you can manage it, please have your dog checked by the vet. A change in behavior is your dogs way of trying to tell you something.
If it is not a medical issue causing your dog to pee and poop in the house, he could be experiencing a new anxiety. It is not uncommon to see separation anxiety in a Greyhound. Is there anything new or changed in your dogs world that may be upsetting him? Is there any construction or loud noises outside your house he can hear while you are gone? Make sure to spend some extra time walking before you leave to give him plenty of opportunity to go potty. He also may need to go out more often than he did when he was younger so if you will be gone for a long stretch maybe you could have someone stop in a take him for a short leash walk.
