doggy fevers?

Dogs don't neccesarily run a fever when they are sick unless harboring and infection. There is no easy way to tell by feeling. The old nose trick, cold, hot, wet or dry really is not reliable. Usually a dogs tempreature is taken rectally for one minute and a normal is about 101 to 101.5 or so. (on a resting dog not just exercised or been in the sun)
