cat curious

why does my cat chew on my fingers...?

This is lclbln and my Samantha will chew on everything.  She chews on the cupboard that her food is in which is on the floor, to the toilet brush and plunger handle when I'm in the shower, coffee table, my purse...whether soft or hard she will chew away.  Thankfully not excessively!  Could she still be teething at 2 1/2 years old?

Bugs, hopefully he does not chew too hard.  Many cats put things in their mouths, carry objects around or chew on whatever is handy.  It is a form of play and or a practice for hunting, capturing, carrying and destroying what they hunt.  This behavior is hard wired in cats dating way back before domestication.  The behaviors are often misplaced now that most cats do depend on hunting for food.

Offering plenty of toys that can be preyed upon, chased and attacked will help to satisfy the urges to practice the art of hunting.  It also combats boredom especially with a strictly indoor cat.
