Overview
The Chinese Shar-Pei is over two thousand years old and originated, as the name suggests, in China. At several times during the breed’s history, efforts by China’s rulers to eradicate pet dogs have almost driven the breed to extinction. The breed is most recognizable by its loose skin on the face, neck, and shoulders, and the meaty, well padded muzzle and face.
