Pet health advice for maintaining a happy pet

The Spectrum recently published an article of general pet health advice. While many articles focus on specific health issues, we believe that prevention is the best medicine, and The Spectrum hits on a lot of the important points to maintaining your dog or cat's health, even before he or she is sick. Here are a couple things to consider:

  1. Know your pet. Different animals and breeds require different preventative care, so keep this in mind when seeking out and evaluating pet health advice. Even whether your pet lives inside or outside can make a huge difference in the kind of care it requires. Things like vaccinations and spaying/neutering should not be overlooked.
  2. Keep your pet's teeth healthy. According to Dr. Clayton Barton, "It's been shown that older animals that have good dental health have a better overall health."
