Michael Vick's pitbulls on road to recovery

Michael Vick's two pit bulls, Cherry and Georgia have nearly completed the rehabilitation process. The pit bulls are among 22 dogs that the Best Friends Animal Society renamed the Vicktory Dogs after rescuing them from the Bad Newz Kennel in Virginia owned by Michael Vick.

Before the dogs can be adopted or sent to foster homes, they must pass a canine good citizen test administered by the Best Friends Animal Society. The test is a difficult, 10-part, exam that allows the Animal Society to scrutinize the dogs before they go to new families. The future, however, is bright. Two of the dogs have already passed the test and moved on, and several others are nearly completed with the process.

Vick recently signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles after serving 18 months in jail for dog fighting charges. According to Eagles owner, Jeffrey Lurie, Vick will be proactive in working with the community and the local Humane Society.
